69Studying With A Human Anatomy Coloring Book
Using a human anatomy coloring book is not only a fun and relaxing way to study for anatomy exams and quizzes, it’s also a proven method to use in order to increase your memory’s retention of important structures. Anatomy flash cards are useful, too, but by actively coloring in vital organs, muscles and bones, it truly does make a difference.

Follow these tips to get the most benefits out of your anatomy coloring book!
- Be dedicated. Just like any memorization techniques, make sure to set aside at least 30 minutes of study time everyday. This is a great activity to help relax your for bedtime.
- Carry them with you. After you’re done coloring a page, carefully cut it out and place it in a clear, 3-hole cover page. Add them to your notebook or purchase a 3-ring binder to keep them in. Take them with you and study while you’re waiting for appointments, waiting for class to start, etc.
- Make it fun. A lot of students in my class used to study together, anyways and a bunch of us started coloring together, too. It’s not a studying method that you necessarily have to do at home!
I hope these tips have helped you out! By utilizing a human anatomy coloring book, you’ll be well on your way to quickly memorizing what you need to know for your next anatomy structure test or quiz.
Buy A Human Anatomy Coloring Book Online
There are tons of great human anatomy coloring books. But, some can be very expensive. I would advise you to not buy them at the college bookstore (I believe I paid around $35 for one). The markup is way too high. On Amazon.com, you can find used human and anatomy coloring books that may only have one or two pages colored in or buy new ones for only a few dollars. There are tons of different anatomy coloring books available, but the most popular one is “The Anatomy Coloring Book” by Wynn Kapit and Lawrence M. Elson.
Every anatomy and physiology student knows that memorization is absolutely crucial; you simply can’t comprehend how the body works without knowledge of where everything is located and how it is connected.
Back when I was a biological sciences major, one of my Anatomy and Physiology professors made a great recommendation. He advised us to buy a human anatomy coloring book to expedite our memorization of the muscle skeletal system, the nervous system, etc. Coloring may sound silly, but it truly works wonders. Instead of staring for hours at the same textbooks pages, you can quickly learn what you need to know simply by coloring in different worksheets.
